Mission Statement

Ampersand Coffee exists to provide the highest quality coffee experience to our customers by supporting women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, & upward spirals while building a stronger local community.

How do we do this?

Highest quality coffee experience. Our goal is to radiate our passion for coffee & ethical conscientiousness throughout every aspect of our company: green coffee sourcing, roasting, customer engagement, delicious beverages, and overall coffee knowledge. We strive to serve our community to the best of our ability from the moment the coffee arrives to the second it leaves in our customer’s hands in a latte.

Women’s Empowerment 

At Ampersand we believe in supporting efforts with a focus on achieving gender equality. It is our hope that by focusing our support on women within the coffee industry, we will come one step closer to the goal of a balanced and stable global society. Through our partnerships with International Women’s Coffee Alliance and Cafe Feminino, all of our green coffee is certified fair trade and sourced from farms that are women-owned or are making strides in empowering women to be in positions of influence.

 Environmental Initiatives

 In addition to women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability is a crucial element in both coffee preservation/quality as well as a necessary step to keeping our planet healthy. All of our coffees are organic; on top of that we seek out regenerative organic, shade grown, Smithsonian bird friendly, rainforest alliance, and other similar certifications. We seek to give our customers clean coffee that is free of harsh chemicals and also maintains a focus on promoting environmental health and wellness for the communities it comes from.

Upward spirals through constant calibration

We believe that no detail is too small. Large scale impacts would not be possible without the cascading effect that comes from smaller choices and intentional decisions. We are only one coffee roaster of many. But, with our focus on women-grown coffee, environmental sustainability, community collaboration, education, and down right delicious tasting coffee, we hope to foster more growth, change, and excitement for future improvements. Small decisions can lead to large-scale and foundational changes through these positive, upward spirals.

The Name "Ampersand"

The name “Ampersand” was chosen for its meaning of connectedness. The ampersand symbol, “&”, is used to connect and bring things together. This idea is exactly what we hope to do as a company. We strive to use our position in the coffee chain to connect our local community to our coffee farmers through both transparent and ethically chosen coffees as well as constant education and engagement about the industry.
